Hello Lifeway! Thank you for having me this coming Sunday, I’m looking forward to being together again! We’ll be continuing your current series in Romans. For those who like to prepare, we’ll be looking at chapter 7 verses 14-25.
In this passage the apostle Paul addresses that age old question many of us have yelled in traffic, “what the heck is wrong with these people?!” No, he wasn’t really addressing traffic, but something of much greater significance; the nature of good and evil that runs through every human heart.
I encourage you to set a few minutes aside each day this week to do two things: 1) read Romans 7.14-25 (aloud if possible) and 2) work through the questions below.
• What do you think is the root cause of any struggles you’ve had in life?
• The main image in this passage is flesh/spirit. What do you think Paul means by these terms?
• Think about your typical week. Are there any parts of your week that draw you more into living according to the flesh? If so, is there anything you could change to bring God’s love and light to bear on that situation?
• What tools, resources, life rhythms etc. help you live according to the spirit? Are there any ways to increase these things in your life, in other times and places?
