This Sunday is Labor Day weekend, and then next Sunday, September 12, we officially launch into the new academic year.
Where are we going this new year? you might ask. What will Fall at LifeWay look like? What is our new schedule? What are we teaching?
Read and find out!
3 Doors to LifeWay Church
When COVID-19 began, we moved our worship gathering time to 10 a.m. each Sunday, which will continue for both in-person and online worship this fall.
We also introduced the concept of “3 Doors to LifeWay Church.”
Door 1: Meet at LifeWay on Sundays at 10 a.m.
We are continuing to meet together in person. I encourage everyone in attendance to finish the Sunday morning in a follow-up group to discuss the teaching, challenge one another to grow, and pray together. Some of these groups meet in the building right after service, some meet during the week. Keep reading for more information about groups.
Door 2: Gather in a small home group…
…with other church members to stream the service together. If you are ready to meet with others but are nervous about a larger gathering, this is a good “next step” to initiate. Who else do you know who is NOT ready for a larger church gathering, but might come to someone’s home for worship and teaching? Make this a missions opportunity!
Door 3: Stream the online service from home.
I want to stress that if you are not able to meet publicly for health reasons, the online streaming option is available to you—but it is the least desirable and the least productive option. IF you can only participate in online church fellowship, then I encourage you to join a Church in the Lobby online group to open the door for conversation, relationship and prayer with others following the service.
LifeWay’s Sunday Schedule
10 a.m. — Worship Service for Everyone
When COVID-19 began, we moved our worship gathering time to 10 a.m. each Sunday. We will continue with the same time for our Sunday worship.
Sunday Preschool Ministry (NEW!)
- 10 a.m. – During the adult worship service, preschoolers will have a time of worship that is designed especially for them. (This is the ONLY separate classroom time that will run simultaneously to our larger gathering.)
- 11:15 a.m. – Following the adult worship service, we are offering a Sunday School-style preschool class while small groups gather.
We have a core team of four, led by Jenny Lin. Rotating helpers are still needed. Contact Alvin Lin to learn how to connect with the preschool ministry team.
Sunday Children’s Ministry (NEW!)
- 10 a.m. – Children in grade school will sit with their parents during the service. The worship time will include a Kids Corner message about the day’s teaching focus. This message will serve as a “teaser” for KidVenture at 11:15. Make sure to grab the Kids Corner sermon notes so your children can follow along!
- 11:15 a.m. – Children will be dismissed for KidVenture, an hour-long class with a team of dedicated teachers and leaders.
We are developing a core team of four, led by Savina Steimlosk. Rotating helpers are still needed. Contact Alvin Lin to learn how to connect with the children’s ministry team.
LifeWay Youth
- Sunday services — We encourage teenagers to gather and worship with the rest of the church family on Sunday mornings.
- Small groups — Any and all youth are welcome to join an after-service small group to discuss and apply the teaching of the day. Youth are also invited to participate in the adult LifeGroups offered throughout the year.
- (This isn’t on Sunday, but DON’T FORGET: LifeWay Youth midweek groups [all grades] relaunch on Thursday, September 16, at 6:30 p.m. at LifeWay!)
We currently have a core team of four, but we would love to have rotating helpers in this ministry.
Contact Alvin Lin to connect with the LifeWay Youth team.
Adult LifeGroups
During the sermon on Sunday there will be sermon notes to follow along the teaching time, but in addition we will offer a discussion guide for groups. We have a few groups that meet directly following the service (around 11:15 a.m.) for an hour, but other groups meet throughout the week.
If you are seeking a group to join, please contact Alvin Lin.
Personal Involvement
My biggest encouragement is that you not make Sunday morning a “sit and listen” event only—whether in person or online.
Join a Ministry Team
LifeWay is made up of teams that include core team members and rotating helpers.
- Preschool teaching team (Sunday mornings)
- Children’s teaching team (Sunday mornings)
- Youth ministry team (Thursday evenings)
Contact Alvin Lin if you’d like to join one of these teams.
Join a small Group
As stated above, there are small groups on Sunday directly after the service, there are weeknight groups, and we can form more as needed.
If you are seeking a group to join, please contact Alvin Lin.
This Sunday
This coming Sunday morning, September 5, we will share communion together at the end of our worship time. Let’s pray for this new school year at LifeWay as a family of faith serving Christ in the world.
See you Sunday at 10 a.m.!
