Officially welcome to summer and the longest days of the year! I love it! But it means for us at LifeWay a shift in what we will be teaching on Sunday’s during the summer. Of course we just went through 30+ Sunday’s in Romans from September to last Sunday. Beginning this Sunday, June 23, we will begin our summer series called… “The Promises of God.” Every Sunday from June 23 to Labor Day, (11 Sunday’s), we will focus on a passage that speaks to God’s promises. In the Bible the word “Covenant” is used which I find to be a much more powerful and impacting word that just promise. You are not only going to have a powerful Scripture brought to us, but you will also hear from a variety of our Church leaders throughout the summer as well. It’s not like I am tired of preaching, but I just feel so strongly that our church family needs to hear how God is working through a variety of our leaders. I actually will be here virtually every Sunday (not this week because Patty and I are hosting students at Youth Camp). I also will be speaking on some of these summer Sundays, and will have the chance to lead worship on a few weekends as well.
This Sunday, June 23, Mike Lindholm, the chairman of our Elder team is the one bringing the first of the promises of God for the summer. His message will be from 2 Corinthians 12:9-12… “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness…. For when I am weak, then I am strong.” Spend some time before Sunday reading and meditating on that passage of God’s promise, and consider this important question…
- Have I ever questioned all of life’s sufferings, pains, trials, and personal fires… is God’s grace enough?
This Sunday is only the beginning of many weeks ahead. You will hear over the summer from not only Mike Lindholm, but Chris Berry, Chaise DeVries, Mark Neidlinger, Alvin Lin, Scott Jackson, and myself as we dig into passages that shout out God’s promises. Near the end of the summer I want to hear from you also! I want you to consider one or two of the powerful covenant promises that God has extended that has impacted your life and why. It’s going to be a great summer…

Just to name a few of where we will be studying together throughout the summer. By the way, our teens that we are taking to camp this weekend will also be dealing with 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 as we study together on a mountainside in Northeastern Washington.
