Pastors Billy and Alvin have been teaching the last couple weeks on Knowing God and God being the “Author of Life”. To go along with that we are going to start a short series this week entitled “The Matter of Life”. We’re going to be talking about:
- The Sanctity of Life
- Redeeming Life
- Loving Life
I would like you to think about some questions as we look at this subject; questions that will be a part of our discussion for the next three weeks:
- What is life?
- When does life begin?
- Is a life only considered a life if it is “viable” or able to survive on its own?
- What gives a human life value?
- Is a life only valuable if it exists in an economically viable family or country?
- Is a life valuable even it is a “poor” life?
- Does a human life have value only if it is conceived from a parent’s desire?
- When does a human life deserve to be protected?
- Should someone who can’t make a decision for themselves have their life protected?
- Why should you and I care about life?
To prepare for this week: read the stories of two cousins, Elizabeth and Mary in Luke 1 – both had unintended pregnancies. Elizabeth was “advanced in age” and Mary was a teenage girl, engaged to be married. Be sure to read the whole chapter and note the responses to both of the babies to be born.
