I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest and graduated from Evergreen High School in Seattle. I enjoy traveling, but I can’t imagine living anywhere else. We have it all right here.
I’m blessed to have two children. Rachel, my eldest, was married in the spring of 2016. She met her husband, Kevin, at Multnomah University, and they plan to be missionaries in the near future. In the meantime they are working at LifeWay with the youth and I have the pleasure of working with them every day. My son, Brian, is currently attending the University of Montana and is a Graphic Design Major. He is involved with a church plant campus ministry with Resonate Church. He keeps me laughing. I’m excited to see how God will use him and his gifts.
I was raised in a Christian home but made a true personal commitment when I was 21. I told God I would do anything but middle school ministry! I think he must have laughed at me, because I have been serving in that ministry ever since. I discovered that I really enjoy the middle schoolers!
While serving in youth ministry, I met my husband, Greg. I feel blessed to have found someone who enjoys exploring new places and visiting family and friends. We also have the joy of serving others together. I’m excited to see what plans God has for us in the future.
What amazes you the most about Jesus?
It amazes me that he can take broken people and use them in incredible ways for his purposes. The church has been a huge support to me and my family. Over the years I have seen how God has provided everything we’ve needed in all aspects of life.
What scripture has had a major impact on your spiritual development, and how has it formed you?
Jeramiah 29:11 — “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
My mother passed away from cancer when I was 14. The Lord helped me find this verse at a time when I really needed it.
Besides the Bible, what book do you love to re-read and why?
I enjoy reading Christian Amish books. I like to escape to a simple time and way of life when things are crazy in my own!
