I do enjoy a good movie, and one came out in 2020 staring Tom Hanks (a great actor) that was called “News of the World.” Set in that late 1800’s post Civil War Texas, the main character would travel around to small villages in the frontier of Texas and read newspapers to people. Even though these farmers and ranchers in the tough frontier land of Texas were not able to go anywhere outside their own county, they could feel attached to the rest of the country and even the world because someone would come and read the news to them.
This coming Sunday October 8th, I am privileged to lead in the second sermon of our GIC month and its theme “Sent.” This week out of Luke 24:46-48 I will be teaching a message that says that we are not just sent… but we are sent with a message. We don’t just have news, but we have the greatest news. We have the Gospel.
Prepare yourselves for this Sunday by reflecting on Luke 24:46-48. But get ready because I want us to be able to outline what that Gospel message really is. I am excited to teach this and am praying for this Sunday.
Please remember, our GIC (Global Impact Celebration) week is coming soon. It will kick off on Wednesday October 18, and will finish with commitment Sunday October 22.
See you Sunday. We have the grandest news for the world.
