This coming Sunday, we will enjoy watching the second Advent candle being lit, the candle that represents love

Whose love are we talking about?

Luke 1:26-38 tell the story of the angel Gabriel coming to the young virgin girl Mary, who was pledged in marriage to Joseph—but it was announced to her that she would have a child. When this was announced, of course she was scared to the core. But in this announcement, she was told that she has been chosen by God to carry the Son of God: Jesus, the promised one. This savior Jesus was being sent to show the loving heart of God.

As you come to join in the worship service with the rest of your church family this week, read that story in Luke 1, hear the story being read again, and celebrate the fact that God’s love did not extend only to the people of the first century—this is an announcement of God’s love for you as well.

John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
