The Raising of Lazarus

As you get ready for the church teaching this coming Sunday morning, March 21, read the amazing story of John 11.  Read the whole chapter. Catch the names of the characters in the story. See if you can catch the intensity of the situation at hand. Try to capture the human emotion and agony of sisters Martha and Mary when they were pleading for Jesus to come and heal their dying brother, Lazarus. Try to place yourself in the moment of disappointment when Jesus came too late and the brother had already died. Has God ever disappointed you?

This is the story of Lazarus—who had died, yet Jesus raised him back to life. This powerful story took place just a few days before Jesus was to enter Jerusalem for his last week of life. He was about to be put to death on the cross, and yet it was during this event that he gave us these words:

I am the resurrection and the life. He who believers in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” (John 11:23)
“Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?” (John 11:40)

Get ready for Sunday. Get ready Christ to reveal who he really is.

See you Sunday at 10 a.m. through one of our 3 doors to worship:
