If James, John and Peter formed the Three Pillars of the 1st century Christian church, then may I say that LifeGroups fulfill the Three Pillars of Christian living? Okay, I know the analogy is a little off (but it sounds good). But what I wish to say is that if one is part of a LifeGroup, then he or she brings to reality the three essential things 1st century Christians set out to do soon after our Lord Christ Jesus ascended into heaven.
The first of Three Pillars of Christian living is community.
Christ ascended into heaven. He said he is coming back. Until the day he comes back, did he say anything at all? Yes. He said we are to go and make disciples of all nations every day. On the day the Master returns, he will settle accounts with you and me.
But by the end of Chapter 2 in the Book of Acts, we learned from Luke that the 1st century Christians devoted themselves to the teachings of the apostles, prayed for each other, broke bread with one another, and shared things with one another so that no one was in want. Keep in mind this happened very early on in the history of the church. Our Lord Jesus Christ had not departed from them for very long at all, and yet were they not doing what their Lord had told them to do? Had they forgotten already what Christ said to them? Why were they not going and making disciples of all nations? Why were they wasting time living lives intimately with other Christians? What were they doing, doing life together?
I believe the reason is because they somehow understood they were to go and make disciples of all nations as they lived their lives intimately with each other. They understood they were not to go and make disciples of all nations in isolation. If it was essential to the Christians to live close lives with each other in the 1st century as they went and made disciples of all nations, and I do believe it was, it is and should be essential for you and me today.
The first Pillar of Christian living is community.

If you would take a few seconds and say a short prayer that God will be honored and blessed by LifeGroups, I would totally appreciate it. Pray also if God is calling you at this time to be a part of LifeGroups.
